Every episode is a real payout from the chain. The fly picks a moment; three rules pick theirs. Net USDG per $5,000 position after the 0.10% fee, the pool fee, price impact and gas. Hindsight is the best moment in the window, known only afterwards: nobody beats it, it is the ceiling.

EXPERIMENT 02 · A BRAIN WITH ONE JOB
Earlier experiments put an insect brain on a trading account, then swapped it for a fish and let it trade. Both were honest that a brain has no edge on a price. So this one is not asked to predict anything. It gets the one question a fly's brain evolved to answer: is the reward in front of me worth going for now? The reward is real: a dividend the issuer has already folded into a token. The fly only picks the moment to take it.

HOW IT WORKS
STEP 1
SEE
The 72 hours after a payout become a picture: the multiplier step, the price path, the pool depth and the gas. Fifty projection neurons read it. The fly never sees a number.
STEP 2
FIRE
2,000 Kenyon cells, each wired at random to 7 projection neurons before any payout. Inhibition keeps 5% of them active: the sparse code a real mushroom body uses.
STEP 3
DECIDE
Two output neurons add up the active cells through plastic synapses: approach and avoid. When approach wins, the fly proposes HARVEST. Otherwise it waits another hour.
STEP 4
REFUSE
A guard checks gas, price impact and whether this payout was already taken. It can only say no. It can never say “harvest that instead”.
Then the fly learns the only way a fly can. When its harvest beats the instant rule, reward dopamine cells fire and the avoid-side synapses of the cells that were active are weakened. When it loses, punishment cells weaken the approach side instead. That is the dopamine-gated depression described for the mushroom body in the literature, reduced to its bookkeeping.
THE LINEAGE
01 · The fly
A fly connectome on a trading account, honest that a steady bias in the network becomes a steady bias in the orders. The guard and the plasticity rule come from this line of work.
02 · The zebrafish
Whole-brain activity from a larval zebrafish with a fixed readout and the same guard. It kept proposing sells it had no inventory for, and that was reported as a result.
03 · FlowFly
Back to the fly, with a different question: not which way the price will go, but take the reward now or wait. A mushroom body is a reward-timing circuit, so the biology and the job finally match, and the score is plain arithmetic.

FlowFly is an experiment inside YieldFlow, the dividend layer for tokenized stocks on Robinhood Chain. The harvest it simulates is the one the vaults will perform for real, signed by your own wallet, once they are deployed.
